Battlefield 4: Online Multiplayer Update

EA and DICE rolled out a new update for Battlefield 4 today that aims to improve the game’s online multiplayer for a “smoother, more ‘correct’ player experience” and adds new tweaks inspired by Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 3.

Battlefield 4’s networking code is “now the fastest in the franchise’s history, counting client-to-client values,” DICE LA general manager Fredrik Loving said in a Battlefield Blog post. “The delay is now lower than ever and we’re also looking to improve hit detection.”

PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners are also getting the High Frequency Network Update by default, which will deliver the aforementioned “smoother” player experience.

DICE has modified player movement to more closely match Battlefield 3, while still maintaining the animation fidelity of the current game. The developer is also introducing “Classic Mode,” a preset inspired by previous Battlefield games that is designed “for skilled players looking for more of a challenge and seeking stricter rules.”

A lengthier rundown of the fall update changes are available at the Battlefield Blog, while a full change list can be read at Battlelog forum.
