Sony today announced specific details regarding its PlayStation 3-to-PlayStation 4 upgrade offer first revealed at Gamescom last month. When users buy the disc-based or digital version of select PS3 titles, they can–for a limited time–download a copy of the same game on the PS4 from the PlayStation Store when it becomes available for Rs 640.
Participating titles include PS4 launch games Watch Dogs, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. No other games were announced for the promotion.
Those who purchase the disc-based version of one of the participating games will find a code packed into their game that can be redeemed on the PlayStation Store.
To play the PS4 version when it launches, users will need to insert the original PS3 disc into the PS4 disc drive to activate and play the next-generation version.
Those who purchase the digital version of any of the four games will not need to redeem a code to receive the PS4 version. Instead, when they pick up a PS4, the game will automatically appear on the PlayStation Store at the discounted price of $10.
The offer will expire on January 31, 2014, for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Watch Dogs; March 28, 2014, for Battlefield 4; and March 31 for Call of Duty: Ghosts.
