PlayStation Now isn’t the only new streaming service Sony has in the pipeline. At CES 2014 this week Sony announced a new cloud-based video service, which will allow users to access TV content through PlayStation consoles, as well as devices like iPads and smartphones.
Through the yet-be-named service, you’ll be able to view live TV programming, search and discover video-on-demand content, and access DVR functionality. Sony will test the new service later this year in the United States, GameSpot sister site CNET reports.
Like PlayStation Now, pricing details for Sony’s new video streaming service are not available. The service is part of a wider effort from Sony to bring its services to a wide range of platforms, not just PlayStation or other proprietary brands.
Microsoft’s Xbox One allows users to watch live television and access their cable providers’ programming guides by patching their feed directly into the console.
